Our areas of work
Within the context of our vision, mission and values, we have three interlinked strands of work: Enabling, Influencing and Communicating.
Influencing
We work to influence major decisions affecting the future of the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS), and increase the sector's participation, voice and influence in the region. Our objectives in this area include:
- Advancing the presence and voice of the VCS on regional bodies
- Increasing the influence of the VCS on regional policies, investments and activities
- Forming effective regional partnerships
The main section of our website which will tell you about our specific influencing work is '
Networking and Representation'.
Enabling
We support the sector by facilitating partnerships and organisational development. This includes working to lever funding into the sector in the East of England, and brokering project partnerships that will benefit the sector. Our objectives in this area include:
- Levering and brokering an increasing share of regional resources into the VCS to facilitate its development
- Promoting sector development in terms of VCS professionalism and modernisation
The projects that we manage usually fall under this stream of activity; further details are available in the
Projects section of our website. The
skills and workforce development work also falls under this stream, although aspects of it are also related to 'Influencing' and 'Communicating'.
Communicating
We want to enable effective regional VCS research, communication and knowledge transfer. Our main objective is to provide timely information on the operating environment for the VCS in the region so that appropriate policy and delivery plans can be made. The main section of our website relating to this strand is 'Communicating'.
